Compare and apply

Design a clear first-success path in developer docs

Compare prerequisites, framework routing and visible results. Use the examples to plan a quickstart with a verifiable end state.

A useful quickstart ends with something a reader can recognize: a first event, a trace, a response or a running task. The homepage's role is to choose the correct route; the tutorial's role is to make that outcome reproducible.

Apply the pattern

  1. Choose a small outcome that demonstrates the core value. Describe what the user should see after completing the guide.
  2. List required accounts, credentials, domain setup and runtime assumptions before installation commands.
  3. Offer stack-specific routes when code or configuration differs materially. Keep common prerequisites in a shared guide.
  4. Include a verification step and a recovery route for the most likely setup failure. Measure completion using your own users before making time-to-success claims.

Where judgment matters

A homepage link labeled quickstart does not prove its tutorial works. We inspected public content and navigation; we did not execute these products' onboarding. Treat a visible first artifact as a setup checkpoint rather than proof of sustained product value.
