Supabase README
A platform README that connects a feature checklist to documentation and explains the components behind the product.
Our interpretation
Useful when you are building…
Founders explaining a platform made of several capabilities, especially when readers need to distinguish managed usage from local development.
Observed in the source
Patterns and sections
Opening checklist
Database, authentication, APIs, functions and storage are listed with links to their documentation.
How it works
The architecture section names underlying components and distinguishes hosted usage, self-hosting and local development.
Community & Support
Forum, issues, email support and Discord links are accompanied by descriptions of what each channel is for.
Section labels refer to the reviewed public source. Visual design and mobile behavior of the external page were not evaluated.
Adaptation ideas
What to apply to your own product
- Give each major capability a plain-language explanation and one relevant guide rather than a long feature slogan.
- Label the difference between using your service and contributing to its code.
- Explain where to ask a usage question, report a bug or request account help.
Tradeoff to consider
The checklist helps orientation, but it does not provide a complete first-success tutorial in the README. A narrow library may need a runnable example much earlier.
Starting route
Follow the product documentation link; the README serves as orientation rather than a complete installation walkthrough.
