LESSON 1 OF 5
Choose the customer
Before choosing a marketing channel, write down who would have a useful reason to try your product.
“Small SaaS companies” leaves plenty unanswered. What happens in their work that makes your product relevant? Who experiences the problem? What must already be true for them to use your solution?
For an illustrative webhook debugging tool, a useful starting hypothesis might be: developers who investigate failed deliveries across several services and need to reproduce a recent failure. That describes a workflow you can ask about and a person you can look for. It is still a hypothesis.
Today, write four lines: the person, the recurring job, the consequence of the problem, and one requirement for a useful evaluation. Add one exclusion so you know who this test should leave out.
Use the audience guide and worksheet. If you need background data, browse the marketing data sources directory, then check whether a source actually describes your intended customer.
Reply with your four lines if you want to share what you are working on.
