LESSON 4 OF 5
Bound the experiment
A useful experiment has a defined action and a decision at the end.
Write your hypothesis in this form: “For this customer, this contribution through this route may lead to this observable next step.” Then specify the work, owner, budget and review date.
In an illustrative test, a webhook-tool founder might publish a tutorial that reproduces a failed delivery and demonstrates recovery, then share it through an appropriate developer community. The next step could be a suitable developer trying the supported workflow with their own test event. That is more informative than counting every impression as interest.
Use the growth experiment planner to organize a brief. Its output still needs your evidence and judgment.
Today, define the maximum effort you will commit and the conditions that would make you stop early. Also write what would count as an inconclusive result, such as reaching too few relevant people to assess the response.
Keep that record. It helps you interpret the result without changing the question halfway through.
