LESSON 4 OF 5

Compare candidates with evidence

Choose evaluation criteria from the actual assignment.

For a customer-led acquisition test, useful criteria might include interpreting customer evidence, designing a bounded test, explaining measurement limits and communicating decisions. Ask candidates to describe relevant work, their responsibilities, what changed and what they could not determine.

Use the candidate comparison worksheet to keep evidence beside your assessments. Set criteria before evaluating candidates, and record unanswered questions as well as scores.

For a developer-tool assignment, ask how the candidate verifies commands, handles errors, chooses examples and updates content after releases. A useful paid sample could review an approved fictional quickstart and explain its missing success check. Distinguish technical understanding from audience size; a large following does not establish the ability to explain your product accurately.

If a work sample would resolve an important uncertainty, make it small, relevant and paid. Use approved or fictional inputs, define its evaluation criteria, and avoid requesting a complete usable campaign as speculative work.

Today, prepare three questions tied to the scope and one realistic exercise if needed. Use the contractor hiring kit to plan the evaluation and working terms.

Scores summarize your judgment. Review the evidence before choosing.
