LESSON 5 OF 5

Set up the working relationship

Your hiring plan now covers the problem, support option, brief and evaluation. Finish by defining how the work will run.

Agree on the initial scope, access, responsibilities, approval path, review cadence, budget and how completed work will be handed over. Separate delivery milestones from business outcomes influenced by other factors.

For an illustrative developer-tool project, a verified tutorial is a delivery milestone. A developer achieving the intended first result, returning to use the tool and progressing to a team evaluation are distinct outcomes. Agree who owns code review, version updates and support questions before publication. The first review should examine both the quality of delivery and what the market response suggests.

Today, write the first review date and the records you expect to discuss. Define what would justify continuing, changing the assignment or ending it under the agreed terms.

Use the founder briefing builder to gather findings, sources, decisions and owners for that conversation.

If you opted into the weekly email, further studies, examples and tools will follow. Otherwise, your course is complete.

Reply with the work you decided to keep with the founder or hand over.
