LESSON 3 OF 5
Choose a feasible route
Choose a route because it reaches the people in your hypothesis and fits what you can deliver.
A community contribution, a partner introduction and a paid placement create different kinds of contact. Compare who is present, what they are trying to do, what participation requires, and what useful next step you can offer.
The distribution directory can help you find candidates. A listing is a starting point: check the destination's current rules, audience and terms before preparing a contribution or buying a placement.
For a developer tool, compare a reproducible tutorial, a contribution to a relevant developer community, and a launch or newsletter listing. Match the language and technical stack to the audience. Use the technical distribution guide to prepare a useful contribution, and the GitHub launch checker to review the repository before promotion. Stars and forks indicate attention; they do not establish adoption.
Today, compare two routes and choose one. Write the contribution you will make, the person responsible, the time or spending limit, and the action you hope a relevant visitor will take.
Use the channel test brief. If paid search is a candidate, the eBay experiment profile offers a useful research question: how will you distinguish attributed actions from actions caused by advertising? Its context does not supply a SaaS forecast.
