SAAS + DEVELOPER-TOOL GROWTH

Make pricing easier to evaluate

Hi,

When someone hesitates on your pricing page, investigate what they cannot determine.

For a developer API, they may be unsure whether test requests are billable, how event volume affects the bill, whether production requires a paid plan, or what happens when a usage limit is reached. Explain the units and verified terms before asking them to choose. Reducing the number of plans may leave those questions unresolved.

Our choice overload study profile is a place to examine the research behind simple claims about offering fewer options. Read it alongside the later review of choice overload moderators. These sources do not prescribe a plan count for your SaaS product.

Use the pricing clarity worksheet to record the explanation currently available. Ask a suitable buyer to choose the plan they would investigate and explain their reasoning.

This week, identify one unanswered question and propose a clarification. Define how you will check whether the revised explanation helps the buyer assess fit.

The pricing page guide provides further examples to consider when preparing the change.
